RTR Teacher Residency Application

Welcome to the VCU RTR Application!

The RTR Teacher Residency program is designed for individuals who are interested in becoming teachers in high-needs schools. This program is not open to current teachers (fully or provisionally licensed). If you are currently a teacher in a high-needs school, you may apply to serve as a mentor for residents in the RTR program.

To complete the application, you will need to upload your unofficial transcripts from all of the colleges and universities you have attended, even if you were not awarded a degree from the institution. We look through all of the college credit you have received to verify that prerequisites have been met and to check off teacher licensure requirements.

You will also need to provide the names and contact details for three professional recommendations. Please confirm with these individuals that they are willing and able to provide a recommendation for you. They will be sent a form to complete through the application system and will need to upload a letter of recommendation.

The application also contains general questions about you - your demographics, what you want to teach, etc. - as well as some open-ended questions to help us get to know you better. RTR staff members and VCU faculty will read your responses to these questions.

The deadline to submit the application to begin the program in January 2024 is October 1, 2023.
