RTR Teacher Residency Application

    Welcome to the VCU RTR Application!

    The RTR Teacher Residency program is designed for individuals who are interested in becoming teachers in high-need schools. This program is not open to current teachers (fully or provisionally licensed).

    To complete the application, you will need to upload your unofficial transcripts from all of the colleges and universities you have attended, even if you were not awarded a degree from the institution. We look through all of the college credit you have received to verify that prerequisites have been met and to check off teacher licensure requirements.

    You will also need to provide the names and contact details for three professional recommendations. Please confirm with these individuals that they are willing and able to provide a recommendation for you. They will be sent a form to complete through the application system and will need to upload a letter of recommendation.

    The application also contains general questions about you - your demographics, what you want to teach, etc. - as well as a statement of intent. RTR staff members and VCU faculty will evaluate your statement of intent as part of the selection process.

    Our next cohort begins in May 2025. The deadline to submit the application is February 1, 2025.

    Applicants who are eligible for the program will be invited to participate in an interview via Zoom during the first part of March 2025.
