Teaching English is the gateway to build imagination, compassion, and confidence in the next generation. Come imagine what teaching English could do for you.

The M.T. in Secondary English Education is a program designed to support creative, thoughtful and passionate future 6-12 grade English teachers. This program can be completed as part of our VCU extended teacher preparation program for current VCU students, or as a program for students from other institutions who have completed an English undergraduate program.

Our program is committed to learning, building confidence in continually diversifying the materials used to teach English, and creating an instructional practice that values all voices.
